An exceptionally rare and early example of the iconic ph 5/3 table lamp, designed by poul henningsen and produced by louis poulsen in the late 1920s. This important extra large early model embodies henningsen's pioneering approach to glare-free illumination and stands among the most desirable variants from the formative years of the ph lighting series. The lamp features the celebrated three-shade system, consisting of a extra wide upper shade (50 cm.) retaining its original red-painted finish on the upper side and the original white lacquer on the inside. The middle and the lower shade are made from single layered opaline glass. The combination creates a warm, diffused light while emphasizing the sculptural geometry that has made the ph series a landmark of twentieth-century lighting design. Executed in beautifully aged patinated brass, the lamp displays a rich surface character developed over nearly a century. The original painted upper shade exhibits an attractive and authentic patina consistent with age. The fixture is stamped "pat. Applied", a highly desirable detail confirming its early production period before full patent designation. A rare opportunity to acquire an early and increasingly scarce example of one of scandinavian design's most influential lighting models. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
