Bring elegance and comfort to a study, library, or writing desk with this handsome antique French desk chair. Crafted in France circa 1890, the chair is executed in walnut and reflects the enduring appeal of Louis XV design with its graceful cabriole legs, serpentine lines, and finely carved decorative details.
The chair features a shaped upholstered back and generously padded seat covered in richly patinated brown leather embossed with scrolling foliate motifs. Brass nailhead trim outlines the upholstery, adding texture and refinement while complementing the warm tones of the walnut frame. The carved legs are decorated with delicate floral and foliate motifs and are joined by an elegant X-form stretcher centered by a carved rosette, providing both stability and visual interest.
The antique chair is sturdy, comfortable, and versatile, equally suited as a desk chair, side chair, or accent chair in a traditional interior. The leather exhibits desirable age-related wear and a beautifully mellow patina that enhance its character and authenticity.
