Throwing a 250th birthday party for America? Don't want to visit the huge box stores for decor? Something different in mind? Enhance the theme with vintage Americana and historical references. Celebrate our democracy, cherish our Constitution and reinforce our pride as peaceful, equitable and loving Americans with a big ole birthday party for the USA. Included in this collection of vintage Americana are reminders of who we were and are as Americans. The pictured collection is being offered as one set for one price. The set has been divided and includes 8 lots (groups). Each lot is pictured separately, (but, remember, there is only 1 set with 1 price).
Lot 1: This is a group of 11 signed Leo Ward (yes, of blue bird renown) cobalt blue handblown glasses (6 highball, 5.75", and 5 lowball, 3"x3") Most likely they were produced at his studio in Arkansas in the 1970's. There is an obvious pontil on the bottom of each glass along with Ward's etched mark ( resembling the astrological symbol for Leo). A whole set of this beautiful glassware is considered to be rare and valuable.
Lot 2: Vintage flags. Handmade rustic American wooden flag. Stripes resemble wooden fencing slats and are held together with copper wiring. 28" W x 20"L
"DON'T TREAD ON ME" yellow flag with rattlesnake ready to strike. This admonition was widely echoed during the American revolution as a warning to the British not to tread on our rights or impose rule by a king on Americans (still a sound warning today). 35.5" W x 24.5 " L
Lot 3: Vintage pewter consisting of 5 pieces including: two, 1970's, Wilton Armetale goblets (7.25" H), one "tree and well" pattern tray (11" x8"), one pewter and ceramic platter with "Great American Revolution" transcribed on the bottom rim and depicting George Washington’s approval of the proposed American flag, and one "Williamsburg Restoration" 5.25 " diameter pewter bowl (maker's mark located on the bottom).
Lot 4: Four Federal Glass footed milk glass mugs with blue graphic of winged eagle with American shield on chest. Vintage 1970s.
Lot 5: Otagiri, 2 American eagle bookends featuring ceramic bald eagles with spread wings perched atop a mountain. Foil label on front says "hand painted" and Otagiri (Japanese) maker's mark is on bottom. These eagles stand 8" tall.
Lot 6: Vintage (1980's) red cotton blend oval table cloth with delicately scalloped edge. Approximately 80" long x 52" wide. Only used a few times (by current seller) for Christmas gatherings. There are a few light small stains but basically in very good condition. There is no label but "A.I." maintains that it must be vintage because there are no cotton blend table cloths that size currently being manufactured. ( Anyway, I know when I bought it!)
Lot 7: Three vintage red, white and blue vases/jugs including one red Anchor Hocking "Ruby Red" depression glass vase (8"), one blue spiral footed bud vase (8"), and one Frenchman "Toby" jug to remind us that the French were our allies during Revolutionary times (they must've disliked George III also).
Lot 8 : Americana tchotchskes (small decorative items usually without high value); Included for your decorating pleasure are 4 decorative trinkets and one $2 note. The trinkets include one modern metal sign that reads "250 years of FREEDOM", one vintage Uncle Sam figure that says WELCOME, One American eagle trivet, and one placquard that is the word, in red, white and blue, LOVE.
The $2 bill was made in 1972 and is worth $2.00. The reason it's included in this set is because the image on the back is an engraving based on the 1818 oil-on-canvas painting titled "Declaration of Independence" by the American artist John Trumbull. The original is located in the Rotunda of the US Capitol building. While often thought to show the signing, it actually depicts the Committee of Five—John Adams, Roger Sherman, Robert Livingston, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin—presenting the first draft of the Declaration to the Continental Congress on June 28, 1776. Trumbull spent over 30 years on the project, traveling to paint as many of the subjects from life as possible to ensure accurate likenesses.
Taken together, in this vintage USA 250th birthday party set, the price for the set offers a 30% bundle discount which is lower than if the pieces were priced separately. Enjoy celebrating our nation's birthday! And surround your guests with vintage Americana!
