Born in Vietnam, Lebadang moved to France in 1939 to study at the École des Beaux-Arts in Toulouse. He held his first solo exhibition in Paris in 1950 and went on to build an international reputation over the following decades. American audiences were introduced to his work in 1966 when the Cincinnati Art Museum hosted the first solo exhibition of his paintings in the United States.
Lebadang's art reflects a unique blend of Eastern and Western influences, expressed through watercolor, sculpture, lithography, and painting. Critics have praised his poetic imagery, graceful compositions, and masterful use of line, shape, and color.
Throughout his career, Lebadang exhibited extensively across Europe, Asia, and the United States, with shows in Paris, London, Düsseldorf, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Tokyo, Osaka, and many other cultural centers. His work is represented in numerous public and private collections worldwide, including collections in Sweden, Japan, and the United States.
Today, Lebadang remains celebrated for his distinctive artistic vision that bridges European and Asian traditions.
