Offered is a rare find vintage mid 20th Century 1960s decanter/water jug made in Tonalá, Jalisco, Mexico, a province renowned for its earth-tone clay and much of the Mexican pottery and ceramic art created since the 1950s. The burnished glaze, subtle sheen and colors are indicative of earlier Tonalá pottery - later pieces are known for brighter colors and more glossy glaze. This piece has a charcoal gray deer motif flanked by 2 Agave plants in a dove gray color. There are stripes surrounding this vignette which match the stripes on the cup.
