This is a truly stunning Chinese-inspired early 20th century vase by Gustav Otto (Gusso) Reuss (1885-1962).
Reuss was a German chemist, glazier, and ceramist who was influenced by Chinese ceramics of the Song dynasty and was known for his glaze experiments, which aimed to rediscover, in particular, Chinese glaze techniques.
In 1914, Reuss was drafted into the German army. After the end of the war, Reuss opened a studio in Munich, which continued production until his death.
Signed Otto Reuss on the underside.
