Rare opportunity to purchase a matched set of 7 Steuben Baluster Tear Drop Stem Goblets known as the #7877 baluster stem which has been long discontinued! The Goblets feature a heavy, classic baluster-style stem accented with an embedded controlled bubble and are the most coveted of all modernist glasses. They are the iconic modernist design popular in the mid 20th century showcasing classic lines and excellent clarity and are sometimes referred to as the "tear drop goblet". Their Baluster stems feature a distinct, think architectural pillar that is highly prized by collectors for their elegant weight and classic silhouette. The etched cursive Steuben name is etched on the underside of every goblet proving their authenticity. See last photo
Steuben Glass Works, founded in 1903, became synonymous with luxury American art glass. Intended as a water glass, today these goblets find more usage as wine goblets. This George Thompson art glass design is perfectly balanced, deliciously heavy in the hand, and visually pleasing, while conspicuously modern. They create a wonderful feel when held due to their scale, shape and weight in the hand.
Remarks from Lawrence Jeffrey: “Steuben is authentic American chic. Perfect in any décor, and exceptional in a mid-century setting - think Vladimir Kagen or George Nakashima furniture.”
Use this set of 7 to expand or replace goblets lost/broken from your current collection!
