This is a stunning pair of antique folk-art double cabinet doors, acquired many years ago by members of Clover’s Cottage in Mount Airy, North Carolina.
These decorative panels exude character, color, and historic charm.
Made from heavy vertical pine planks, they feature a striking two-tone distressed white finish over deep, dark wood grain. The front is beautifully adorned with vibrant red and orange folk-art motifs and flowers on the main panels, accented by geometric red corners.
A bold, dark-painted center stile visually ties the pair together, with one door fitted with a single wooden knob and both showing remnants of their original side latches.
The designs resemble traditional Pennsylvania German, Dutch, and European Alpine folk patterns brought to North Carolina from Pennsylvania and Virginia. The back reveals rough round saw marks and crosshatch supports, suggesting they likely date to before the 1850s.
