A remarkably rare, pocket-scaled devotional artifact capturing the monkey deity in a dynamic kneeling stance of fierce devotion, finished in a rich, copper-rich bronze patina. Hand-cast via the ancestral lost-wax technique, this diminutive masterpiece represents a powerful departure from the collection's slender celestial figures. The miniature sculpture portrays the revered monkey deity Hanuman captured in a deeply expressive, animated kneeling posture. His hands are brought together tightly at chest level in Anjali Mudra—the sacred gesture of absolute reverence, prayer, and devotion. Despite standing a mere 3 inches tall, the figure boasts remarkable structural complexity, featuring a long, distinct tail curving upward behind his left leg and a traditional support staff anchoring the heavy solid metal between his feet.
His face carries a striking, primitive-folk expressionism characterized by stylized prominent features under a pointed, multi-tiered crown (jatamukuta). The entire figurine stands permanently affixed to an integrated, low-profile circular base plate. Over generations of devotional handling and environmental exposure, the heavy metal alloy has aged into a beautiful sun-warmed, copper-rich bronze patina. Deep earthy charcoal under-tones and warm reddish highlights cross the metal surface, beautifully accentuating the raw, honest texture native to ancient sand-and-clay mold releases. This fascinating small-scale found object serves as a highly sophisticated accent piece, perfect for introducing deep storytelling, old-world history, and textual variety to a luxury vanity tray, an intimate shelf arrangement, or styled beside modern design elements.
