A masterfully modeled small-scale devotional casting capturing a dynamic tri-axial sway, intricate cast armlets, and a weathered dark bronze patina with delicate verdigris tracking. Hand-cast via the historic lost-wax method, this captivating pocket-sized treasure exemplifies the fluid, lyrical movement of classical Indian temple art. The miniature sculpture portrays a celestial Apsara or divine dancer frozen in an expressive Tribhanga posture—the traditional "S-curve" stance where her head, torso, and hips shift in opposing directions. Her right arm curves upward with her fingers pinched in a precise theatrical mudra, beautifully balanced by her left arm extending outward away from the body. Despite measuring just 5.25 inches tall, the figure is richly detailed, displaying structured armlets with raised ornaments, an incised multi-strand collar necklace, and a finely etched lower wrap (dhoti) flanking her legs with wing-like structural folds.
Her facial features project an old-world meditative calm, defined by stylized almond eyes, an integrated brow line, and a serene smile beneath a high, split topknot crown. The entire figure stands permanently cast upon a remarkably complex, integrated pedestal composed of a small circular lotus dish resting upon a flared, stepped dome base with etched concentric lines. Over generations of handling and environmental exposure, the heavy alloy has developed a deep, dark oil-rubbed bronze patina. Soft, authentic traces of green verdigris oxidation follow the recesses of her crown and waist, providing undeniable proof of its historical provenance. This exceptional found object brings instant character and old-world soul to a luxury vanity tray, a small floating shelf arrangement, or a tailored executive study.
