Becenti on the base, connecting this work to the well-known Navajo Becenti artistic family of New Mexico. It features a seated figure with a expressive face. The hair and feather detail on the back is rendered with precise incised lines, and scattered dot motifs on the garment echo traditional decorative patterning. The reddish-brown stone has been polished to a soft sheen, with the natural pitting and texture of the stone incorporated into the composition rather than worked away, giving the piece an organic, grounded quality.
