A beautiful set of six finely hand-colored natural history engravings depicting various animal species from around the world.
The series includes:
*the Javan hare
*the Greenland fallow deer
*the Indian buffalo
*the American bison
*the puffin accompanied by a penguin
*the elephant and the rhinoceros.
The captions are printed in several languages: "M Seligman Sculpt et excud" and "G Edwards ad viv det" as well as other explanations in Latin or German.
Each engraving is presented under glass in an antique-style frame made in the 20th century (one piece of glass is broken in the lower left corner - bison).
Good overall condition. Some signs of age, light foxing, and minor marks consistent with age.
