This exceptional silver-plated wmf ikora bowl combines the avant-garde design language of modernism with the extraordinary craftsmanship for which the württembergische metallwarenfabrik (wmf) has been renowned for generations. The elegant, shallow form rests on three finely crafted feet and appears to float above the surface. The surrounding geometric triangular pattern lends the design an architectural precision and is reminiscent of the pioneering design principles of the bauhaus and early modernism.
the bowl is in superb condition. The silver-plated surface exhibits a uniform luster with only minimal signs of age, underscoring the high-quality workmanship of this exceptional piece. Its sculptural appearance makes the bowl equally suitable as a decorative centerpiece on a dining table or as an exclusive collector's item on a sideboard or console. It is believed to have been made in the 1950s.
this piece gains particular significance through its connection to wmf's legendary ikora collection. The ikora series originated in the late 1920s and was significantly shaped by the artist and designer paul haustein. Haustein masterfully combined traditional craftsmanship with industrial production, creating designs that are still considered milestones in german design history. The characteristic geometric patterns, the clear design language, and the exceptional material quality made ikora one of the most important design lines of german modernism and a highly sought-after collector's item for design enthusiasts worldwide.
this wmf ikora bowl is far more than a decorative object – it is an expression of an era in which art, architecture, and craftsmanship merged into a new design language. A rare and exceptionally high-quality collector's item for lovers of classic modernism and sophisticated design objects. This piece has an attribution mark,
