An exceptional 19th-century French Sèvres porcelain covered bowl, made circa 1846 during the period of Louis Philippe and designed in the elegant Louis XVI style. This refined 1-piece decorative object combines deep cobalt blue porcelain, hand-painted scenic decoration, gilded ornamentation, and beautifully detailed gilded and enameled bronze mounts.
The porcelain body is finished in a striking cobalt blue ground and decorated with romantic multicolor painted scenes, including gallant and landscape-inspired imagery. Gilded borders frame the painted reserves, adding richness and depth to the overall design. The bronze mounts enhance the classical form of the piece, giving it both sculptural presence and historical refinement.
Although made during the Louis Philippe period, the design is inspired by Louis XVI style, known for its neoclassical elegance, symmetry, and refined decorative detail. This makes the piece especially attractive to collectors of French porcelain, royal-marked decorative objects, and 19th-century French decorative arts.
The lid is crowned with decorative bronze detailing and bears important Sèvres and royal markings, including a Sèvres stamp dated 1846, the insignia of Louis Philippe, and a Tuileries Castle mark inside the lid. These markings add to the historical interest and collectability of the piece.
