This hand-blown Polish art glass vase exemplifies the continued vitality of Eastern European studio glass production at the turn of the twenty-first century. Executed in a saturated chartreuse hue, the vessel explores the relationship between color, translucency, and asymmetrical form through a composition that is both functional and sculptural.
The vessel's organically shaped silhouette culminates in a dramatic freeform rim that unfurls like the petals of an exotic bloom. Softly asymmetrical and intentionally fluid, the form captures the spontaneity of hot-worked glass while showcasing the technical precision required to maintain balance and harmony throughout the composition.
Polish glassmaking earned international recognition during the late twentieth century for its willingness to blend traditional handcraft with contemporary artistic expression. This vase exemplifies that approach, functioning equally well as a decorative sculpture or as a vessel for floral arrangements.
Its vivid color and architectural presence make it a compelling accent in modern, postmodern, Scandinavian, and eclectic interiors alike.
