An exceptional mid-century art glass vessel distinguished by its architectural silhouette and richly textured archaeological finish. Evocative of the post-war experimentation that defined Italian art glass production, the piece balances sculptural geometry with a surface treatment inspired by the appearance of ancient excavated glass.
The vase is defined by a substantial fire-polished collar rim that crowns a gently waisted cylindrical form. Rendered in a sophisticated pale chartreuse tone, the color shifts subtly between green and amber depending upon available light, lending the piece a remarkable presence despite its restrained palette.
The body exhibits a heavily textured matte finish closely associated with the vetri a scavo aesthetic developed in Murano during the mid-twentieth century. The weathered surface creates the appearance of age-softened archaeological glass, while the glossy rim and foot provide visual contrast and reveal the material's inherent luminosity.
Unmarked, the vessel displays many characteristics associated with Italian art glass of the 1950s through 1970s and is particularly reminiscent of the scavo-inspired work produced by several Murano workshops during that period.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs observed. Minor variations, pitting, and surface irregularities are inherent to the artistic finish and should be regarded as intentional elements of the design.
