This pair of nightstands is an exclusive example of high interwar Functionalism from the 1930s. Manufactured in Czechoslovakia by the famous company Hynek Gottwald, a brand that belonged to the absolute domestic and European elite in tubular steel furniture production, this design represents a perfect symbiosis of minimalist geometry, metal lightness, and the warmth of natural wood. The core of the cabinet is made of high-quality spruce blockboard, masterfully veneered with beech and maple. The contrasting texture and subtle tones of both woods give the tables an extraordinary elegance. During the meticulous restoration process, the original wood polish was sensitively revived, returning the natural depth, warm tone, and a subtle silky luster to the wooden surfaces. The supporting frame, made of elegantly bent tubular steel, gives the nightstands their signature airy, floating character. The chrome-plated surface has been professionally cleaned and polished to a brilliant mirror finish. Each table offers a practical upper shelf framed by a chrome rod and a lower cabinet with an internal storage space featuring a minimalist period handle. Thanks to its timeless design and superb restored condition, this collectible pair serves as an ideal accent for modern, industrial, or classic interiors. It has been re-polished with polyutherane piano lacquer by our professional refurbishing team in Czechia according to the original process. The chrome parts have been cleaned and professionally restored. This item features classic Bauhaus design elements. Elements of this style are neutral colors and occasional bright primary colors. Bauhaus designers avoided the fussy and pretentious, looking for clean, modern lines. Perfect for a timeless yet modern look. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
