This piece … Read more An extraordinary and museum-quality small bowl in hand-blown glass, produced by the legendary Artisti Barovier workshop in Murano. This piece is a magnificent example of the early 20th-century technical revival of the murrine technique, attributed to the master Giuseppe Barovier (circa 1910). The bowl is crafted from a vibrant cerulean blue opaline glass, featuring two delicate "swan-neck" handles. The body is decorated with exquisite fused floral murrine, meticulously arranged to depict blossoming branches. Unlike surface enameling, these decorations are integral to the glass itself, created by fusing cross-sections of patterned glass canes into the parison during the blowing process. This piece represents the transition between the 19th-century revivalism and the birth of modern Murano glass. The "Artisti Barovier" production is highly celebrated for its ability to transform complex ancient techniques into a delicate, Art Nouveau (Liberty style) visual language.
