1941 ink and paint on cardstock advertising a performance of Gilbert and Sullivan opera "H.M.S. Pinafore" at the Community Playhouse. Signed lower right "D.W. Quarles 1941."
There is an April 1941 production of Pinafore at the Nashville Community Playhouse that received much acclaim in the Tennessee newspapers of the time. That building was located on 21st Ave. South and with slightly altered entrances is now the Belcourt Theatre. There is a DW Quarles mentioned for excelling in illustrating heraldry in the Tennessean newspaper in 1939.
This was found in North Carolina, so it's possible this is the production mentioned.
