The design of these exclusive large temple jars is a stylized floral seasonal pattern with multi coloured peony and lotus flowers with multi vines surrounding the jars. The jar is trimmed with a traditional stylized auspicious Chinese 'Meander' borders the neck and a band of rectangular embroidered design lappets border the base. The peony and lotus have long been appreciated in Chinese culture and is associated with longevity, happiness, love and transformation...often seen as a symbol of good luck and strength...a traditional auspicious symbol. The phoenix '鳳凰', it is a symbol of virtue, grace and the union of 'yin and yang'...the phoenix can be found on decorations for weddings or in Imperial Court decorations along with the dragon symbols of Emperor and Empress...The feathers of the phoenix are said to represent Confucius' five virtues, Ren, Yi, Chi, Xin and Li...These temple jars are hand painted with a vibrant Chinese traditional jade green and the five element colours on a soft pale green base.

These lidded porcelain jars are made in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi (江西) Province, China. The original porcelain factory capital in China. Jiangxi Province provides the best quality mineral deposits for producing porcelain, as well as being surrounded by forest providing wood for the high heat that is needed to produce a quality finished porcelain.

The Original Porcelain moulds were produced in the early part of the 20th century and many were destroyed as the porcelain factories were being closed down throughout China's modernization years.

These are one of a kind temple jars and it would be hard to find them on the open market again. They have not been on the open market. These jars are especially beautiful in size and colouring. The hand painted details are exquisite and beautifully decorated...a true treasure to have...!
