In 1933 he fought and beat Max Schmelling who was Hitlers favorite fighter. 60,000 people attended this fight, even though it was during the Great Depression. During the fight, and all future fights he wore a large Star of David on his trunks. He was 1/4 Jewish descent. Although I believe this is legit on the autograph, but I bought it for the Ralph Lauren, grandpa chic look of it. In the corner, signed in pen Edward W Strange; Kenosha, Wisconsin 1936 Golden Gloves Tournament. It is amazing; it would make a room, measuring a large 19" x 25 1/2". He was an icon of his era and was involved in the fight of the year for 1934, '35, and '36 , and was romantically involved with Jean Harlow. The picture is as large as life as Max Bear Sr. was.
