The Mbole people from the Southeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo generally crafted these types of items to facilitate trade transactions. Among the largest jewelry forms found in sub-Saharan Africa, this anklet is usually offered by a husband to his wife-to-be as a part of the marriage contract, with larger ones known as "Ehuke" and smaller ones as "Diako."
