gotlind and gerald weigel belong to the important tradition of german studiokeramik, where the ceramic vessel became a medium for artistic exploration rather than industrial production. Their work is admired for its sophisticated glaze chemistry, organic forms, and the seamless integration of sculptural thinking with technical mastery. Drawing inspiration from both east asian ceramic traditions and european studio pottery, they developed objects that emphasize surface, material transformation, and the unpredictable beauty of the firing process.
the spherical vase is characterised by a crystalline glaze in shades of amber, honey, bronze, and ochre. Flowing glaze movement creates remarkable depth and tonal variation, while the compact form gives the piece an almost meditative presence. The accompanying bottle vase introduces a darker counterpoint, combining a rich tenmoku-inspired ground with delicate golden speckling and dramatic ivory glaze transitions around the neck.
together, the two vessels create a particularly successful composition. The contrast between rounded and vertical forms, luminous and dark glazes, makes the pair highly versatile in contemporary interiors. They work beautifully on walnut, travertine, slate, or textured plaster surfaces, where their glaze complexity and organic character can be appreciated both individually and as a carefully curated ensemble.
