A charming Middle Eastern theme decorative table lamp / night light in leaded glass and cold painted French metal. Highly atmospheric with a soft glow and deep rich colors, the mosaic like tent illuminates to display a musician playing a mandolin while seated on a carpet. The interior is beautifully decorated as well as the exterior, which is bejeweled with colored glass cabochons.
Originating in the 19th century, this style of art and design refers to the European portrayal of Eastern cultures and traditions through visual, literary and other artistic mediums. The movement found popularity among artists, painters and sculptors that traveled to the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia and become entranced by the peoples and traditions and wished to capture the colorful beauty of these exotic lands.
