Bring a genuine piece of 19th-century American history into your home. This antique utilitarian stoneware jar was produced by Weyman & Bros. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to package and distribute their legendary Copenhagen snuff tobacco.
It features the iconic, deeply incised "WEYMAN'S SNUFF" maker’s stamp cleanly debossed along the lower perimeter of the base.
Crafted with a timeless, neutral beige salt-glaze, this piece boasts a wonderfully "crude" texture that collectors look for. The exterior showcases beautiful, organic variations from the original kiln-firing process, including subtle pitting, and authentic hand-thrown character.
It is a striking standalone accent piece or a perfect addition to a growing collection of early American stoneware.
Please note: This offering is for the stoneware jar only; the original tin/cork lid is not included as is most often the case over the decades.
