Contemporary, circa late 20th century eggshell and lacquer tray in an Art Deco style reminiscent of work produced by famed Swiss-French interior designer and artist, Jean Dunand. The pieces are finished in deep, red-orange high-gloss lacquer with natural micro-mosaic eggshell adornments. The backs are finished in high-gloss black lacquer. Numerous layers of lacquer are applied to build up the surface until it is smooth and can be polished to a high sheen. The short ends gracefully curved upward and act as handles. Marked J. Fleet on the bottom of the large tray.
