Fresh from a fine New York City estate, we have a pleasure to offer you this Vintage American Hepplewhite / … Read more Fresh from a fine New York City estate, we have a pleasure to offer you this Vintage American Hepplewhite / Federal Style Inlaid Mahogany Tambour Door Secretary Flip Top Desk. Constructed in three sections, top features a large double door glass vitrine / curio / bookcase with an adjustable shelf inside, topped with it's original bronze finials on corners, flanking an American eagle in the center. Below the glass doors is the center section with a pair of sliding tambour doors, flanking a single door that has a gorgeous inlaid American eagle coat of arms . Inside of the sliding tambour doors are three letter compartments above a drawer. Below the doors is a folding / flip front writing table surface supported by two slides on ends. Bottom part of the desk has two large wide drawers, each with a pair of original oval plate bronze handles. Standing on four downward tapering legs, also with a matching pin stripe inlay design. The desk is in good overall condition, showing light age / use wear, taken care of by the previous owner (please see photos). Present is the original lock and a key. This beauty stands imposing 80" tall to top of the bronze mount, 36.25" wide, and 18.25" deep, while the writing surface when unfolded is 28" knee clearance. Gorgeous piece of American furniture, great for a house or an apartment, can mesh with traditional or mid-century modern! See less
