Vintage Chinese hand-carved wooden figure depicting a reclining lucky baby or Karako-style child resting upon a melon form. Executed in carved wood with painted surface decoration, the sculpture reflects the playful figurative character associated with mid-20th century Chinese export folk art.
The rounded carving, softened surface wear, and lightly aged patina contribute to its warm decorative presence. Traditionally associated with themes of abundance, prosperity, and good fortune, the figure functions equally well as a collectible Asian decorative object or shelf sculpture.
