A superb and finely preserved covered sugar bowl in the highly collectible Crescent Pinwheel pattern — one of the rarest and most desirable forms in the Gaudy Welsh repertoire. Produced in Staffordshire, England for the American market, this piece displays the bold cobalt flow blue ground, vivid iron-red floral decoration, and gilded foliate accents in exceptional condition. The original cover is present and fits beautifully, making this a complete and highly displayable example.
Covered sugar bowls in this pattern are significantly harder to find than plates or platters, and rarer still to find with the lid intact and the decoration this well preserved. Condition is outstanding — only the most minor staining and light wear marks consistent with nearly two centuries of gentle use. Color and gilt remain strong throughout.
A genuine centerpiece acquisition for the serious Gaudy Welsh collector.
