This is a substantial, beautifully detailed French gilt brass centerpiece planter. The center body features a continuous, highly detailed repousse' frieze depicting classical playful cherubs. The upper rim features an interlocking scroll design underneath a heavy beaded edge. The piece rests on a square pedestal base supported by four openwork volute scroll and lion paw feet.
It has its original bright gold patina. There is a minor indentation along the top rim. Additionally, there are a few tiny pin-size daylight holes visible in the deep reousse' work near the vertical foliage divider where a few tiny grape clusters have worn away over time. One leg is a bit shorter and there are two felt pads which levels it.
The ORIGINAL REMOVABLE METAL LINER IS INCLUDED. It is intact, fits perfectly and completely covers the minor internal wear, making it fully functional for dry or lined floral displays.
