This Michael Harris bottle vase for Mdina Glass was produced in Malta during the 1970s and exemplifies the studio's highly distinctive organic approach to decorative art glass. Executed in hand-blown glass, the vase combines a refined elongated bottle form with the rich tonal variation associated with Mdina's celebrated surface treatments. The form rises from a cylindrical base into a stretched and tapering neck, terminating in a softly flared lip. Throughout the body, warm amber and deep brown tones intermingle in a tortoiseshell-like composition with mottled areas of color and delicate trails of blue and yellow suspended within the glass. The layered patterning creates depth and movement across the surface while emphasizing the hand-worked quality of the piece. Michael Harris established Mdina Glass in Malta in 1968 and became known for organic forms and richly textured surfaces that balanced sculptural qualities with functional design. Pieces from the period remain among the most sought-after examples of British studio glass production abroad. Condition: Very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or damage noted.
