Large antique zoomorphic earthenware vase, signed KG Lunéville (Keller & Guérin), depicting a slender fish, likely a koi carp.
Circa 1920.
This generously sized decorative piece perfectly illustrates the expertise of the Lunéville potteries in producing whimsical and naturalistic ceramics of the early 20th century.
Shape of an upright fish.
Wide-open mouth forming the neck of the vase.
Relief body depicting scales.
Curved tail forming an elegant openwork handle.
Magnificent polychrome glaze with subtle gradations: luminous yellow on the head and sides, shades of turquoise and sea green on the tail, highlights of powder pink and lilac, glossy finish.
Of considerable size, it is in very good condition, with superb colors and a beautiful sheen. Minor enamel chip at the rear base and a very discreet tiny enamel chip on the ventral fin.
