The glasses impress … Read more A striking set of three solid glass tankards (handled mugs) from the Mid-Century Modern era (circa 1960s/1970s). The glasses impress with their organic, slightly tapered silhouette and an extremely distinctive, thick, icy base. The smoky clear glass displays a beautiful, subtle hint of green in the solid base.

The design is firmly rooted in the tradition of Scandinavian Brutalism and strongly reminiscent of Erik Höglund's iconic designs for the Swedish manufacturer Boda. An absolute highlight for lovers of rustic studio glass and modern interior design.

Craftsmanship Details & Condition
These are first-class, mouth-blown, and hand-shaped pieces of art. Each glass is absolutely unique. The artisanal manufacturing process is evident in the beautiful, characteristic features:

Inclusions: Fine air bubbles (seeds) in the glass body (especially in the handle area).

Base: An unpolished, rough pontil mark (break-off mark) on the underside testifies to traditional glassblowing using a pipe.

Handle: Distinctive, manufacturing-related melting marks at the base of the handle.

The glasses are in excellent vintage condition without chips or deep scratches.
