A striking and exceptionally heavy Art Deco pressed glass vase (740 grams) from the 1930s.
This piece captivates with its deep, vertical fluting (ribs) that dramatically refracts the light and rests on a distinctive, stepped round base. The solid, thick-walled "heavy glass" quality and the strictly geometric form are highly typical of the sophisticated industrial glass designs produced in France and Germany during the interwar period—and show strong parallels to the work of Pierre D’Avesn or Walther Glas.
An authentic characteristic of this era is the typical, unpolished center point of the pressed glass on the underside of the base, which is an important mark of originality for collectors. A timeless, sculptural object that fits perfectly as an architectural highlight in modern or mid-century interiors.
The bottle shown is for size comparison only and is not included.
