A Very Good Quality Early 18th Century George I Period Set Of 4 Walnut High Back Dining Chairs, Having Well Figured Supports And Vase Shaped Central Splat To Backs, Over Upholstered Drop In Seats, Raised On Elegant Cabriole Legs with Turned Stretchers And Original Pad Feet.
A great example of the stereo typical early georgian chair, these chairs are constructed from lovely quality, solid walnut timber which has great depth and figuring to it as well as a good untouched colour and patina. They certainly have that typical English Country House Feel to them, which is further enhanced by the good, but untouched condition.
These chairs have real elegance, whilst also being incredibly functional and there is no doubt whatsoever that they are still very much fit for original purpose. They would suit a wide variety of spaces around the home, including split into pairs as bedroom side chairs, hall chairs, or desk chairs, as well of course as for their original purpose as dining chairs.
The chairs have removable, drop in seats, which means that should one wish to cover them in a different fabric post purchase this is a very easy and inexpensive task to perform. The upholstery currently in place is very much presentable however and we would estimate it has been in place for somewhere between 30 and 50 years.
There is very little restoration, or structural defects to speak of, just a few very old repairs and old marks, scuffs, scrapes etc, all of which are commensurate with age, blending in nicely with the overall feel of the chairs.
As with all items which we offer for sale these 18th century chairs have been inspected by our highly skilled, trained antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish to ensure they are in great condition and ready for immediate placement before being offered for sale.
