Italy, 1990s origin italy period 1990s designer laura diaz de santillana (venice, 1955 – 2019) daughter of ludovico diaz de santillana and anna venini, granddaughter of venini founder paolo venini, she completed her classical studies in venice and trained at the school of visual arts in new york (1975–1976), subsequently working as a graphic designer at the vignelli associati studio. In 1976 she returned to italy and began a collaboration with venini & c., where she remained until 1985, experimenting with murano techniques to create works with unusual colors, including the famous series of mosaic glass plates and the klee, brio, sommersi and monofiori series of vases. In 1986, after the sale of venini, she founded the eos company with her father and brother alessandro, of which she was artistic director from 1989 to 1993. From that date, she abandoned applied design to dedicate herself exclusively to artistic research, exhibiting in solo and group shows at major international museums, including the victoria and albert museum in london, the metropolitan museum in new york, and the mak in vienna. In 2014, the giorgio cini foundation in venice dedicated an exhibition to her, together with her brother alessandro, as part of the le stanze del vetro project. She is considered one of the most innovative figures in contemporary glass art. Brand arcade materials hand-blown, shaped, and polished glass. Dimensions h 55 cm ø 7 cm conditions perfect.
