designer ivan baj (merano, 1957) a glass artist and designer, he trained as a ceramist at rosenthal and ginori in the 1970s. He became involved with murano glass through his friendship with anna venini and laura de santillana, and in 1989 he founded the arcade brand, of which he is the creative director. Through arcade, he has developed collections in collaboration with international designers and artists, including laura de santillana, paola navone, and marcello panza, crafted by master glassmaker andrea zilio. At the same time, he continues to produce his own unique pieces inspired by his travels—the “voyages” series, entirely hand-blown in murano. His works are featured in the permanent collections of the murano glass museum, the musée des arts décoratifs in paris, and the museum of modern art in lissone. He lives and works in paris.
