Handcrafted ceramic vase by Ursula Kohne (born 1939), a German ceramicist known since the 1960s for her powerful, earthy stoneware. Kohne worked with high-fired, iron-rich clays and favored reduction firing processes, which give the vessels their characteristic, dark, flowing traces of fire and smoke.
The vase displays her signature style: a rounded, bulbous form with a slightly flared rim and a vibrant, organic-looking surface characterized by dark, flowing firing patterns on a warm reddish-brown hue. The deliberately irregular texture and the archaic effect of the material are characteristic of Kohne's work from the 1970s and 1980s, during which she developed a particularly expressive, naturalistic aesthetic.
A distinctive, collectible piece of German studio ceramics with a strong presence and an authentic fired surface. This piece has an attribution mark,
