This conversation piece sculpture was created as part of a special architectural commission, where architect Wim Hofman was invited to design the interior and furniture for a building by renowned Dutch architect Fons Verheyen.
The design clearly reflects the influence of the Memphis Group, the radical Italian postmodern movement founded by Ettore Sottsass. Memphis design is characterized by its expressive use of color, geometric playfulness, and its rejection of modernist restraint in favor of bold, sculptural expression.
The sculpture forms a playful composition defined by a large mint green tubular element and a black marble-look base, echoing the same material language used throughout the project. The design explores contrast, rhythm, and form. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising
