Vintage 1950s ABCO Chalkware Pixie Elf Bookends Pair - Original Sticker & Felt
-Up for sale is a beautiful, complete matching pair of vintage 1950s chalkware bookends manufactured by the renowned Alexander Backer Company (ABCO). These highly collectible mid-century pieces feature charming Asian pixie/elf figures dressed in vibrant red and gold attire, sitting perched atop stacks of brown books.Chalkware items from this era are notoriously fragile, making a pair in this condition exceptionally rare to find! Each bookend measures 7.5" x 3" x 4".
Condition Details
Structural Integrity: Excellent. There are absolutely no chips, cracks, or repairs anywhere on either piece.Paint/Surface: Beautiful original paint. There are only a few tiny, minor paint flakes consistent with age and gentle handling, which do not detract from the overall display.Markings: Clearly stamped with the authentic ABCO maker's mark on the back/base. Both bookends feature their original bottom felt pads, and one still proudly retains its original paper maker sticker on the base.
