Circa 1900, … Read more This is a beautiful Antique Chinese Rose Quartz Guanyin / Kwan Yin Figurine with hand carved rosewood stand. Circa 1900, late Qing Dynasty, very good condition as noted. It's beautiful and glossy, but it tipped over and has been repaired at the neck, please view all closeup angles and the black UV light photos. It has a small amount of chipping along the front break and the old glue could use a light clean up as shown (last photo). This was carved from one piece of natural rose quartz, that has a lovely translucency and the color is very rich and uniform. It might be pink tourmaline (more expensive), but I'm pricing it as rose quartz. Guanyin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, symbolizes unconditional love, mercy, and salvation. Her name translates to "The One Who Hears the Cries of the World", reflecting her role as a savior who postpones her own enlightenment to alleviate all sentient suffering. She is a very famous archetype internationally. She is wearing a peaceful expression and a detailed necklace expressing her high status as a deity. She is holding mala beads (prayer / meditation necklace) and is wearing a beautifully draped, flowing robe, while standing on abundant waters flowing from a vase at her side. She is 8.75" tall and weighs 2lb 2.1oz. without her custom stand. Her stand was custom carved for her. She comes with a padded storage box as shown, but it's not her original box. See less
