A rare design, the lamp features a weighted circular base in black lacquered metal, paired with a slender steel stem and an adjustable cylindrical shade. Agnolis approach is evident in the lamps form and movementevery element serves a purpose, with the shade pivoting to direct light precisely where needed. An early example of Italian modern lighting, well suited to a desk, console, or bedside table. Tito Agnoli (19312012) was an Italian architect and industrial designer who specialized in furniture and lighting. After graduating from the Politecnico di Milano in 1949 with a degree in architecture, he worked as an assistant to Gio Ponti and Carlo De Carli. From the 1950s through the 1970s, he designed for leading manufacturers including Arflex, Cinova, Oluce, Poltrona Frau, and Schiffini. Condition: Very good vintage condition. The black lacquered base shows light surface wear and scuffs consistent with age. The steel stem and shade display minor marks and patina throughout. Adjustable shade pivots smoothly. This lamp has been professionally rewired by our team of restorationists with a new socket and plug. Accepts one E12 light bulb. See less
