20th century reproduction cylinder desk with a curved, rotating wooden shutter that slides open to reveal an internal writing surface and storage compartments.
Design and Features
* Cylinder Top: A solid, rigid curved section of wood that smoothly rotates back into the framework of the piece.
* Flame Mahogany Veneer: Highly figured, flame or crotch mahogany.
* Leg Design: Long, reeded legs that taper down to petite turned feet with carved floral corner bosses.
* Hardware: Traditional round brass drawer pulls on a single wide lower drawer.
* Workspace: Roll-top opens to a pull-out slide with a red, leather panel.
* Storage: 4 letter pigeonholes and 2 small drawers with brass pulls.
Condition:
The roll-top and pull-out writing slide both function smoothly. The interior red leather is clean with some signs of wear, scuffing, or ink stains. Minor, normal cosmetic wear on the exterior wood frame consistent with age, but overall very well preserved.
*Minor Water Damage: There is a localized
area with raised wood grain on the
exterior surface due to previous moisture
exposure. The wood is completely solid,
stable, and firmly attached (not a hollow
bubble or peeling veneer), but it has left a
permanent texture change. It’s only visible
from certain views.
Dimensions:
* Width: 30.25 inches
* Depth: 17 inches (when closed) / 24.5 inches (with writing slide pulled out)
* Height: 39 inches
