Some panels have been made with a “tigering” technique to create a rippled appearance in the wood, which resembles stripes when catching the light. The original lock is intact and in working order with its key. The thick, paneled doors open to reveal a spacious interior divided into two sides, and each side has two fixed shelves. The right shelves measure 16 ¾” deep; the top left shelf measures 13 ½” deep; the bottom left shelf measures 19 ¼” deep. In the base of the wardrobe are two drawers that slide open easily with turned oak knobs. Perhaps the most distinguishing feature of this piece are the ebonized “bun” feet at the front. Also made of turned oak, these feet interestingly contrast the geometric design of the armoire with their unique, round shape and oversized proportions. Gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for use in your interiors. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
