Antique French leather writing box or traveling secretary, found in the South of France. Covered in red leather with gilt decorative borders and brass hardware, the case opens to reveal a fitted interior with six drawers and a fold-down writing surface.
Originally designed to store correspondence, documents, and writing supplies, it now works equally well for organizing stationery, jewelry, keepsakes, or small collectibles. The side carrying handle allows the piece to be moved easily, reflecting its original purpose as a portable writing desk.
A useful and decorative piece with good scale for a desk, bookshelf, or tabletop display.

Condition: Wear consistent with age and use, including minor scuffs, creasing to the leather, and age-related patina to the hardware. Presents well overall.
