The panels are framed above and below by bands of aged amber velvet and multiple rows of antique gold gimp and openwork braid passementerie, all original and in remarkably intact condition. Backs in warm cognac velvet. The front panels are almost certainly repurposed from a larger Victorian furnishing — a fire screen, chair seat, or ottoman — a common and cherished practice of the period. European, likely English or French.
