Hand Signed Limited Edition Lithograph, 403/1000.
Published by Greenwich Workshop September 1979. Original work copyrighted 1978.
Museum framed using 100% ragboard with double mat and wood frame.
Bev Doolittle is one of America's most celebrated artists working in watercolor, known for extraordinary camouflage technique and her deeply expressive paintings of the American West. Pintos was the very first print of Bev Doolittle's art career.
In Doolittle's own words: "I was observing a small group of chestnut horses in a grassy meadow when I became aware that they were observing me. I thought it would be fun to have the horses observing you, the viewer, before you find the horses. The chestnut horses became pintos, and the grassy meadow turned into a backdrop of rocks and snow."
Hand signed in pencil by the artist and numbered 403 from a strictly limited worldwide edition of only 1000 prints. Includes Greenwich Workshop publication document confirming title, artist, year printed- 1979, and edition of the 1000 signed and numbered. Still accompanied by its original Greenwich Workshop publisher's sleeve, intact after more than four decades. This remarkable piece has been part of my personal collection for over 45 years. A rare opportunity to own a piece of American art history. Image size: 18" X 18"
