Vintage Chinese Hand Painted Famille Rose-Fencai, Porcelain Floral Cherry Blossom and Swallow Bird Pattern Sweetmeat bowl with Lid
The design on the sweetmeat container is an overall multi floral blossom and swallow pattern on a beautiful vibrant imperial yellow ground base. Trimmed with a traditional Chinese Cloud and Thunder - Yunwen and Leiwen Pattern in Chinese Red and Imperial Yellow. The 'Meander' pattern symbolizes abundance and good fortune...
This sweetmeat container is very unusual from the traditional design of most pieces of this shape and it would be hard to find it on the open market again.
The Original Porcelain mould for these planters were produced in the early part of the 20th century and many were destroyed as the porcelain factories were being closed down throughout China's modernization years.
These colours are named for a palette on a type of porcelain defined by the presence of a colour scheme with an opaque overglaze enamel. This sweetmeat container is painted with a range of hues and the graduation of 'Susancai' colours.
