This is a large black-and-white photograph of a Woman and Child in Hong Kong, photographed by George Holton in 1960, and printed for educational purposes by Harper and Row Publishing, with a copyright date of 1967. Printed on a semi-gloss, heavy card stock. The caption reads 'Theme 7 Man's Search for Security'.
George Holton was a New York freelance travel photographer for National Geographic, The Smithsonian, and National Audubon Magazines, who is said to have photographed every country in the world before he died on assignment in 1979.
The backside photo reprint is of several children and a teacher creating a large mural together, by Wayne Miller from Magnum. The caption reads 'Theme 8 Man's need for association and expression in groups'. It may have been part of his 'Family of Man' exhibit, which debuted at the New York Museum of Modern Art in 1955 and traveled worldwide.
Wayne Miller was the first recruit assigned to Edward Steichen's Navy Unit to document WW11 through photography, including street scenes in Hiroshima in the aftermath of the bomb. Miller freelanced for Ebony Magazine, photographing African Americans in Chicago's South Side, and was granted two Guggenheim Fellowships. He taught photography at Chicago's Institute of Design and worked for LIFE Magazine.

The upper and lower left corners show creases that we have gently flattened over time, but are still visible up close. The lower crease is the largest and causes that corner to lift slightly, but it will flatten in framing. There is a large area in the upper white band of this backside (Wayne Miller) print that resembles an oil stain. Fortunately, it does not carry through to the front side and does not affect the George Holton Woman and Child image. less
