Add a touch of timeless global elegance to your space with this beautiful, authentic mid-century Chinese export mirror. This unique piece perfectly captures the highly desirable Hollywood Regency and Chinoiserie aesthetic, blending classic Asian artistry with Western design sensibilities.
Key Features
Hand-Carved Decorative Panel: The base of the mirror features a stunning, intricate relief carving. This panel is genuine hand-carved wood, NOT a molded resin reproduction. It depicts traditional symbols: chrysanthemums (symbolizing longevity) and a scrolling lingzhi mushroom (symbolizing eternal spring).
Rich Finish: The carved panel boasts a deep, cinnabar-colored red lacquer background with beautiful gold-painted or gold-leaf highlights (gilt). The frame is a solid Asian hardwood with a warm, reddish-brown stain, resembling classic Rosewood.
Authentic Vintage: Dating from approximately the 1950s–1970s, this piece has the authentic patina of a well-traveled vintage item. The handwritten "24" batch mark on the back is a classic factory inventory number.
Unique Size: Its tall, narrow silhouette makes it perfect for adding vertical interest to an entryway, hallway, bedroom nook, or as a statement piece in a living room.
Condition Details
Glass: The mirror glass itself is mostly clear but shows light, authentic "foxing" (small dark spots and clouding), which is proof of its age. Many collectors find this character highly desirable as it differentiates true vintage from new replicas. It does not interfere with the overall reflection.
Frame: The wood frame and carved panel are in very good vintage condition, with minor, expected surface wear and patina consistent with age.
Carved Panel: inches Tall
